We are very pleased to offer a very rare 1981 Austin Mini HL Automatic. Finished in Nautilus Blue with a contrasting white roof and enhanced with matching bonnet stripes, chrome spot lamps, nudge bars and very sexy set of deep dish Mamba wheels. We have taken this Mini in part exchange and being the big Auto Mini fan that I am I have enjoyed driving this one for a good few months improving it along the way. It drives beautifully and is lots of fun. Registered new on the 1st of August 1981, the exciting new car day, by Lookers of Leeds. It is accompanied by an amazing history folder including the original bill of sale highlighting that it was also Ziebart wax injected which has surely played a part in its preservation. It also has its fully stamped Passport to Service book and a detailed file of invoices dating all the way back to 1981. It has only covered a very low 26 thousand miles in 45 years with just five previous owners, the last two from the same family. It also has both sets of keys and its original 1981 issue hand brake crook lock.
On the road the Mini is great fun. Automatic Minis offer the true Go-Kart driving experience, simply select Drive and away you go. The original 998 engine is virtually silent and the Gearbox is precise and changes up and down beautifully. It has just been fitted with an electronic ignition, it starts instantly and after many happy miles I can confirm it feels ready to be driven anywhere. It has also received some useful updates including adjustable height suspension and those wider profile ten inch wheels offer the correct smooth Mini ride with sharp handling. Performance is brisk and this HL easily keeps up with modern traffic and is also very suited to modern Town driving being Automatic.
The interior is very well presented and has been treated to a very comfortable set of period Velour seats, matching door cards and alloy door furniture. It also has a full length Walnut dashboard with a beautiful matching steering wheel.
This HL is survivor example and has clearly had a cared for life and regularly serviced and maintained, the provenance is excellent, its not very often you can see all of a cars maintenance for 45 years. Being a HL it is also very rare as this model was only produced in the early eighties for a short time. There are less than 30 HL Automatics making this on the road example very rare. Please do not expect this Mini to be pristine, it is an unrestored example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed, it does have paintwork imperfections but is in very solid condition with the correct vented sills, solid floors and subframes. I have bonded with this Mini as it is so much fun to drive and hopefully the new owner will appreciate its character and condition.
The Mini has been fully serviced, checked, driven and tuned and has a full no advisory MOT. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
