We are very pleased to offer a very rare sought after 2001 “Y” Rover Mini Cooper Sport 500. Finished in iconic British racing green with contrasting Platinum Silver roof, bonnet stripes and four spot lamps. This example has only covered 72k in 25 years with just 3 previous owners. It is accompanied with one of the most detailed service history folders I have ever seen and has clearly been cherished its entire life. The service folder is very comprehensive and all in date order and dates back to 2001. It also has every MOT certificate and a fully stamped service book. It also has both of its sets of keys and fobs. Included is the very rare Cooper Sport 500 gift bag which incudes a Baseball cap, T-Shirt and Mini branded gifts. It also includes the certificate of authenticity and an email from the Cooper Sport 500 register confirming its build date and number. This 500 is build number 375 and being a 2001 it is in the last 125 Classic Minis produced.
Rover launched the Cooper Sport 500 edition in late 2000 at the very end of classic Mini production and exclusively only 500 Cooper Sports were produced. They have full Cooper Sport spec: Platinum silver roof, matching leather trim and dashboard and third level brake light and they also have a plaque in the glovebox to remind you that you own a very special Mini indeed.
On the road this Mini drives very well. Cooper Sport 500s have a special feel as they really are an important part of Mini history The 1275cc engine is very smooth and near silent with excellent power delivery and the gearbox is taught and precise. Performance is brisk and it has more than enough power to keep you grinning. We have just fitted a Maniflow exhaust so it has the correct subtle burble. We have also just replaced all of the suspension cones and fitted adjustable height suspension so it offers the precise Mini handling with a smooth ride. This is an MPi Mini which stands for multi point fuel injection, all you need to do is simply turn the key and go, Further features include a drivers airbag, side impact beams and alarm and immobiliser. MPi Minis offer all the Classic Mini charm with a modern twist and thanks to taller gearing they cruise with ease at Motorway speeds.
This 500 has a well presented interior and again is full Sport spec with Black leather with Platinum silver inserts, Aluminium 6 clock dash with magnolia dials and alloy door furniture. The roof lining, carpets and switchgear are all in excellent condition. This example also benefits from some well thought out upgrades which include an uprated Alpine stereo with DAB, Bluetooth, Audio Streaming and reverese park camera. It also has uprated speakers hidden under the rear seat, front and rear dash cams and a 12 volt socket for charging devices. This has been fitted to a very good standard and has a factory feel. This model also has rear seat belts.
This Cooper has a well preserved shell with correct vented sills, body coloured floors, boot floor and inner arches. This is an unrestored example and it wears its vintage well. The paintwork gleams, this is a good looking Mini that is ready to be driven and enjoyed and also giving you access to a very exclusive club.
The 500 is fully checked, serviced and driven and has a long MOT.
