We are very pleased offer a 1989 Austin Mini Sky 1000cc. These very Limited edition Minis were built to commemorate 30 years of Mini production using pastel roof colours as a nod to the swinging Sixties. They came as either a Mini Rose with a Pink roof or Sky with a pastel Blue roof. Only 500 of each edition were produced and they remain one of the rarest of the eighties Minis, less than 80 original Sky Minis exist giving you access to a very exclusive club. They were all finished in Diamond white and had contrasting blue Crayon fabric seats, Nimbus Grey bumpers, wheel arches, door handles and grille. White wheel trims and unique Sky decals. It is very refreshing to a find such a well preserved example. It has been meticulously maintained by the same family since 2008 and has one of the largest history folders I have ever seen, all detailed and in order. It also has a maintenance book detailing mileage and MPG. This Sky has been cherished and has lots of love and attention lavished on it , the end result is a fantastic package that is ready to be used and driven anywhere.
On the road the Mini is fantastic to drive, the 998 engine is very smooth and benefits from having a Stage 1 tune so it offers extra flexibility and torque over the standard tune, it really will surprise you as it easily keeps up with modern traffic, it has a smooth gearbox, Maniflow exhaust for that subtle burble, electronic ignition, adjustable suspension and wider profile tyres giving the Mini that legendary handling. The drive package is excellent with a mix of higher power and precise handling making you smile the whole time.
The interior is well presented and has been tastefully upgraded with Valencia Pearl vinyl seats with matching door cards, these look very similar to the original Crayon trim seats but are more comfortable. The switch gear is all original as is the roof liner. It also has a Kenwood CD with AUX and a 12V socket. This model also has rear seat belts. It does now have a three clock dash with a rev counter as the original speedo failed, again this is documented in the history folder.
This Sky has a very solid shell with body coloured floor pans and the correct vented sills. It has been consistently maintained and so is in very solid condition. The paintwork gleams and is very presentable with only minor blemishes. Having all of its correct features really makes it stand out. This Sky makes a very viable introduction into the world of Classic Minis and its also a very rare and useable example at the same time. The lucky new owner will be able to enjoy the experience of driving a very well prepared Mini as well as being safe in the knowledge you probably will never see another out on the open road.
This Sky has been fully serviced, checked, driven and tuned and has a long no advisory MOT so is ready for the open road.
