We are very pleased to offer an excellent 1965 Morris Mini 850cc. Finished in the very sixties colour combination of Almond Green with an Old English White roof and contrasting Porcelain green trim. To say that I have enjoyed preparing this Mini is an understatement, it is possibly the nicest and best prepared MK1 I have driven not just because of its ready to drive condition but it also has sensible and subtle upgrades giving it a drive anywhere feel. Registered new in March 65 and supplied by Wray Park Garages in Reigate with just six previous keepers in 61 years, the last owner cherished it for 11 years. It is a full matching numbers example and is accompanied with a large history folder and a Heritage certificate confirming its provenance. It was restored to a very high standard 12 years ago and it has settled nicely with the look and feel of a period sixties Mini. Good enough to show but also no trailer queen and happy on the open road.
On the road its excellent fun to drive. Nothing quite creates the feel of a MK1 Mini, the sound and the feel create an addictive experience. This example benefits from some very useful upgrades giving it a drive anywhere feel. It has an upgraded HS4 carb with an RC40 exhaust which allows it too breathe easier and releasing some useful horse power over the original spec. It also has Cooper S disc brakes giving much more confidence, uprated radiator and for added reliability it has an electronic ignition. All of the original parts are included with the Mini. The result is fantastic, its certainly not a race car but it keeps up with modern traffic and cruises with ease with more of a 998 feel. The original engine is near silent with excellent oil pressure, it has been converted to run on unleaded, and the magic wand gearbox is very precise and smooth. It is a great overall package and one that will not disappoint anyone that has the pleasure to drive it.
The interior is beautifully presented, the full sixties experience is on offer here. Porcelain green seats with matching door cards, pull handle doors, unmarked roof liner, Newton Commercial fitted carpet set and that wonderful 3 clock binnacle and matching steering wheel. The boot area is nicely detailed with the correct full length boot matt and the engine bay is very well presented.
The Mini has a very solid shell. It has vented sills, body coloured floor pans and the rear subframe still looks brand new. During the restoration all of the running gear was replaced or upgraded and it all still looks new. The paintwork is gleaming and it really belies its 61 year vintage. It instantly draws a crowd wherever I have taken it. It passed an MOT without advisories which is a real testament to this Mini ready to be used condition.
We have fully serviced, checked, driven and tuned this Mini so it is ready to be enjoyed. It also MOT and tax exempt.
