We are very pleased to offer a real slice of the eighties with a genuine matching numbers 1980 Austin Mini City 850. Quite a piece of Mini history as these were the last of the 850 Minis and are very rare in City spec. Finished in very period Pageant blue with contrasting ten inch white wheels. I am a big fan of this era of Mini, they offer the pure Mini driving experience, ten inch wheels, single centre clock and that fantastic steering wheel. They are so easy to drive and enjoy and at the same time are just simply cool. This example benefits from a thorough renovation in 2021 which covered all of the important running gear and is offered as a jump in and drive Mini, which is what they were intended to be. It has had only four previous owners in 45 years and has only covered 83k.
On the road this Mini drives very well. The 850cc engine is near silent and very healthy mated to a precise gearbox. It is more than happy keeping up with modern traffic and will happily cruise all day, I know as I have driven this Mini many times. The 850 can be underestimated but a good one like this will certainly surprise you performance wise as it really flies. The legendary handling is on offer thanks to the ten inch wheels that have nearly new Falken tyres all round. As mentioned it has had a recent brake and suspension overhaul so handles and stops beautifully. It also benefits from electronic ignition offering a fantastic level of reliability. It certainly makes you smile and on top of that it gets so much attention, people just love seeing this Mini, the colour is a firm favourite.
The interior is well presented and has been updated with a full Mini Equinox half leather interior offering more comfort on longer drives. It has matching door cards and very useful rear seat belts. The original roof lining is in very good condition and the all important single centre clock and large steering wheel is present and correct. It also benefits from an auxiliary temperature gauge and a double USB socket.
This Mini has a very solid shell and has been regularly maintained, it has the correct vented sills, solid floors and a recent rear subframe. The paintwork, as you can see from the pics is presentable, this is a good looking Mini, not perfect but that is not the point of this City, it is ready to be driven and enjoyed and if you are after the pure Mini driving experience then this may be the one for you.
The Mini is fully checked, serviced, driven and tuned and has a full MOT that it passed and is also MOT and Tax exempt.
