We are very pleased to offer a unique opportunity to not only own a super rare early Mini Clubman but also a very low mileage low owner example. The Mini has only covered twenty thousand miles in 53 years with just four previous owners. Finished in Glacier white with contrasting and very seventies Geranium red velour trim. Registered in August 71 and supplied by Oliver Tallett LTD of Mosely in Birmingham and as stated on the original bill of sale it was sold with seat belts and an underseal treatment which has clearly preserved the shell, for the sum of £740. It has been wonderfully preserved and has a very original feel and look. This is a full matching numbers example with its original FE number on the inner wing and front floor pan. Commission number and front panel body tag. It appears to have all of its original panels and is an absolute joy. This Mini is unique in the respect that many Minis with super low miles are trailer queens that just go to shows, this Clubman can be used as such a car but in my opinion it needs pressing into action and being enjoyed out on the open road.
On the road it has a real time warp feel to it, the almost silent 998 engine is very smooth and as you would imagine the gearbox has a taught and precise feel. We have fully worked through this Clubman and it has four new Falken tyres and overhauled brakes so it handles and stops well. It rides very well on its Hydrolastic suspension which offers a comfortable and precise ride a fantastic system that suits modern roads very well. Seventies Minis are my favourite of all the eras of Mini as they offer the pure Mini driving experience with the large steering wheel and ten inch wheels and by this point they had usefully evolved into very easy to drive cars and this one is no exception. It is very happy on the twisty stuff and holds its own on faster roads. What it also does is instantly draws a crowd of admirers as it is such a time capsule to look at and it really stands out from anything else.
The interior is as it left the factory and absolutely stunning. It is all original right down to the carpet set and rubber floor matts. It has unmarked original seats, door cards and roof lining. It has the original two clock dash and three spoke steering wheel and the seldom seen Triplex windscreen sticker. In my opinion it is one of the nicest Mini interiors I have seen.
This Clubman has a fantastic original shell with remarkable floor pans and and boot floor which still has its original Hessian covering. It has the correct vented sills and the rear subframe looks new. The engine bay is also well presented. It really is a true survivor, it was undersealed from new and has clearly been used sparingly which has really helped with the preservation process. The paintwork is well presented and again in keeping with its age and patina, it looks now as it probably did when it was ten years old not the 53 years it currently is. This is an unrestored example so expect the odd age related mark and blemish. What this Mini is looking for is a new owner who will appreciate it for what it is, which is virtually unique, it wears its heart on its sleeve and it is certainly ready for a new Mini adventure.
The Mini is fully serviced, checked and driven and has a full MOT. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
