We are very pleased to offer a very special Mini Cooper and one that I have enjoyed every minute of preparing and driving. Only one hundred of these pocket roads were produced by John Cooper garages, they were uprated with there “Si” John Cooper conversion pack with many unique extras and of course some very useful extra power. This stunning example has had just one owner and has covered only 25 thousand miles in 30 years. It has excellent provenance including the Cooper garages plaque stating number S-31, conversion certificate, original owners handbooks, service book, both fobs and a raft of service history receipts. It was supplied new by John Cooper Garages and still proudly wears its original John Cooper number plates, window sticker, tax disc holder and something I have not seen before, a Cooper yellow duster. The conversion was offered as there has always been an appetite to make Minis go faster which is something they achieved. Power was increased to 85 BHP with high lift rockers with a big valve head which was ported and polished, uprated exhaust, air filter and oil cooler.
The results are fantastic, this Cooper offers a very immersive drive, its quick and also very well behaved cruising, it is fuel injected so very easy to drive, simply turn the key and off you go. What John Cooper achieved was giving the Cooper the performance it deserved, you will just want to keep on driving. The low mileage engine is very smooth and the gearbox is precise. It has an uprated exhaust that gives it a very sexy burble and wider profile tyres giving excellent handling.
The interior is beautifully presented and totally original. It has black leather seats with and embossed Cooper logo, full length Walnut dash with 6 Magnolia dials, the middle three are Cooper Garages signature clocks, it also has a beautiful signed Mota-Lita steering wheel, alloy door furniture and the original Rover cassette player. The original carpets and roof liner are virtually unmarked and this model also has rear seat belts.
This Cooper has very solid shell and has all of its original panels. The underside is body coloured as are the inner arches, it also has the correct vented sills. The paintwork is gleaming and it really belies its 30 year vintage. It certainly turns heads wherever it goes. This is an excellent opportunity to own a real slice of Mini Cooper history that has very low mileage and excellent provenance.
We have fully serviced, checked, tuned and driven this Mini and it has full MOT so it is ready to be driven and enjoyed.
