SOLD 1990 Rover Mini Cooper RSP. 1275cc, British Racing Green. Low mileage, Service history. Very rare and stunning.

We are very pleased to offer a rare and low mileage 1990 Rover Mini Cooper RSP. Finished in the ever popular British Racing green with a contrasting white roof and bonnet stripes, this stunning Mini Cooper has covered only 62k in 33 years, the last owners cherished it for 15 years. It was registered new in September 1990 and supplied by Wadham Stringer in Plymouth. It is accompanied with the original fully stamped service book, handbooks and a raft of service receipts, sales brochure, every MOT certificate and both sets of keys. RSP was a special department inside Rover and it stood for Rover Special Products. 1600 RSP Minis were produced as a pre production Mini Cooper to test the market to see if the appetite for a Cooper was still there, it was and these special Minis sold out instantly which paved the way for the Cooper relaunch. 1050 stayed in the UK in three colours and very few remain in this condition. This particular one is a member of the RSP register, only a few hundred are known to survive. They have many unique details that were only ever fitted to the RSP such as the Tudor sunroof, Minilite wheels with a unique stud pattern, half leather seats with a Cooper emblem, colour coded arches and mirrors and unique spotlights. They have always been a very coveted edition as they are true carb Cooper with bags of power. This a correct matching numbers example with all of its original features.

On the road this Cooper is an excellent experience. Make no mistake this is a drivers car it just gives you that feel as soon as its out on the open road. The 1275 engine is super smooth and free revving and the gearbox has a slick and precise change. RSP Minis were fitted with an oil cooled MG Metro engine and they are known to perform like a good Cooper should. The Mini also has a Maniflow exhaust for the correct Cooper sound, Koni shocks and wider profile Falken tyres. The performance and handling will surprise as it pulls like a train, it really excels out on the open road and this the whole point of this example, not only is it good to look at it, the driving experience will give you a big grin.

The interior is very well presented and shows only light signs of use. The seats, carpets and roof liner are all original and belie this Minis vintage. The original dash is all present and correct with the 3 clock binnacle with green dials and a rev counter. It has the original red leather Cooper steering wheel and this model also has rear belts. The stereo has been upgraded with a CD/AUX/USB and there is a further 12V socket.

This RSP presents beautifully and benefits from a recent body refurb to a very high standard and as such has gleaming paint and a super solid shell. The floor pans and inner arches are all body coloured and it has the correct vented sills. The boot floor also gleams and the rear subframe still looks new. This is a Cooper that is ready to be used and enjoyed and is also good enough to proudly sit on display at any show but more importantly being driven.

We have fully serviced, checked and driven this Mini and it has a full MOT so its ready to be enjoyed.
