We are very pleased to offer a Classic Mini Icon. The legendary 1969 Austin Mini Cooper S MK2 finished in possibly the best S colour, Old English white with a contrasting black roof and enhanced with a full length sunroof. Owning a Mini Cooper S is the pinnacle of classic Mini ownership which is further enhanced with an amazing driving experience. The MK2 “S” is super rare amongst its peers as they were only produced for 18 months. This matching numbers example benefits from having just two owners in its 54 year life, the last owner cared for it since 1979. Its also virtually unique amongst its peers as it has never been stripped and restored from a shell like so many have, instead, it has been carefully maintained and preserved and is such a completely genuine example with its original shell which will offer any lucky new owner piece of mind that there stunning Cooper S is genuine. It was repainted to a high standard five years ago and it has settled in nicely with a fantastic presence that gathers a crowd of admirers very quickly and rightly so.
On the road is where the experience starts. Driving a Mini Cooper S is a real thrill and one that makes you feel very special. This S is no exception. the tuned 1275 engine is very responsive and offers bags of power and acceleration when required, the gearbox is precise and smooth and the original Hydrolastic suspension offers a smooth ride with accurate handling. We have fully rebuilt the original engine and gearbox and the results are fantastic. The full pure Cooper S experience is on offer and then on a sunny day it is transformed in seconds thanks to that fantastic sunroof, simply slide it back and the full wind in the hair experience is on offer.
The interior is very well presented and all original except from a replacement carpet set. It has that wonderful sixties patina and a testament to this Minis cared for life. The 130 MPH speedo is present and correct and the original steering wheel. Nothing else is required!
As mentioned this Mini has been cared for and preserved and is unrestored. It is a real drivers machine and certainly not a trailer queen that you would be reluctant to use, its ready to be driven and enjoyed on the open road like a Cooper S should. The paintwork is very well presented, this is a stunning Mini in the flesh and it will easily hold its own at any show, it has the correct fluted sills, body coloured floor pans and inner arches and solid subframes. What its best at is giving you the opportunity to own and drive such a revered car that gives you a buzz that only a sixties Cooper S can.
The Mini is fully serviced, tuned and checked and will be supplied with a full MOT. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
