We are very pleased to offer a Mini that I absolutely adore, a 1960 Austin Mini Seven De Luxe. Finished in Farina Grey with contrasting red trim, this matching numbers example has lived a charmed life and is presented as a very honest example with fantastic provenance and I challenge anybody to not love it after they have driven it. Registered new in April 1960 and supplied by local Lymington dealer Dawson Brothers, this Mini has never left Hampshire it its entire 61 year life and has covered only 48k in that time. It is accompanied with its original bill of sale, heritage certficate, a full list of its previous owners, original drivers handbook and further invoices and receipts from over the years. It has been consistently driven and enjoyed which adds to its appeal.
On the road is where the fun starts. This is the very pure form of the Classic Mini, basic and purposeful and very stylish. The original 848cc engine starts immediately through the floor start button and the magic wand gearbox is smooth and prescise. It has an impressive turn of speed and eagerly keeps up with modern traffic on the twisty stuff. The brakes and suspension are also very well balanced and all you will want to do is carry on driving. We have just treated it to a brake overhaul, steering rack and new rear suspsension, it also sits on four very recent Falken tyres. Driving MK1 Minis is a fantatsic experience and this one excels as it not a trailer queen although it could easily sit proudly on any dispaly stand, it is just as happy on the road doing what it was intended to do.
The interior is very well preserved and has all its correct factory features, the carpet has been replaced but the rest is all original and a testament to its cared for life. It has the fantastic single centre clock, original steering wheel, roof lining and being the Super De Luxe, it boasts twin sun visors and a heater! Sitting in this Mini is a real time warp experience.
This Mini has a fantatsic shell and is the same colour underneath as it is on top. It retains all its original body numbers. The paintwork is well presented and in keeping with its condition and wonderful patina. Considering its vintage it is only showing a few signs of previous repairs and the advantage with this Mini is that it has never been taken apart or built from a box of bits, it is a survivor example and that is what I adore about it. The rear subframe is also very recent.
We have fully serviced and driven this Mini at length and it will be supplied with a full MOT and is of course MOT and Tax exmept and gives you access to an exclusive early Mini club as they were launched to the public in August 1959 so ths example is amongst the first and with all its original features present.
