1968 Morris Mini Cooper MK2. 998cc. Snowberry White. Stunning restored matching numbers example.

We are very please to offer on behalf of a client this genuine and very rare matching numbers 1968 Austin Mini Cooper MK 2 998cc. This Cooper is finished in Snowberry White with a black roof, surely the best colour combination for a Cooper, and has recently been completely restored and is now ready to go. Mk 2 Minis are very rare as they were only produced for 18 months in the late 1960s and are seldom seen on the roads and the Cooper is even rarer so this Mini gains you access to an exclusive Mini club.

This example was registered on the 3rd of January 1968 and was suppiled by Wadhams in Waterlooville in Hampshire and was fitted with a fresh air heater. This Cooper is a full matching numbers example and still has its original engine and body FE number and is accompanied with a Heritage certificate and the original drivers handbook. It has been the subject of a full restoration and is now presented in a fantastic ready to use and show condition.

On the road this Cooper is great fun to drive. The 998 engine is very healthy and holds a stong oil pressure and is mated to a precise gearbox. The Hydrolastic suspension works well and offers the legendary Mini handling with an added level of comfort. The disc brakes have also been uprated to ‘S’ specification with a servo. Performance is brisk and the sound through the twin SU carbs and the Fletcher exhaust is fantastic, not mention the huge amounts of attention this fantastic looking Cooper gets.

The interior is presented beautifully with the original seats being retrimmed front to back, new carpets, roof lining and door cards. The original steering wheel has been refurbished and the all important three clock binnacle sits proudly in the centre with its 100 MPH speedo.

As mentioned this Cooper has undergone a thorough restoration and the shell is very solid and has also been waxoiled in the important places to preserve it for the future. Its the same colour underneath as it is on top. It has the correct vented fluted sills, gleaming floor pans and boot floor. It has a brand new rear subframe and a fully refurbished front one, all the brake and fuel lines are new as are all of the brake compnents. The engine bay is also detailed to a very high standard and correct. The paintwork is also gleaming and the all of the bright work has been replaced including lights, chrome, and rubbers. In short, basically everything has been renewed or replaced.
The looks are subtly enhanced with Cooper ‘S’ reverse rims and two period Lucas driving lights.

This Cooper is fully serviced and tuned and will be suppiled with a full MOT and is now MOT and Tax exempt. This Mini has been finished to a high standard but still offers a new keeper a car that is very much useable and ready for the open road.
